Construction Begins on PGE’s Offshore Wind Base in Ustka
Construction has begun on PGE’s offshore wind operations and maintenance (O&M) base in Ustka, Poland. This facility will support the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, a joint venture between PGE and Orsted. Scheduled for completion by Q4 2026, the Ustka base will become the central hub for servicing the Baltica 2 project. It will provide maintenance, logistics, and operational support, playing a key role in Poland’s offshore wind energy development. The project underlines Poland’s commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Empire Wind Project Faces New Legal Challenge
A fresh federal lawsuit has been filed against the Empire Wind 1 offshore wind project near New York by a coalition of environmental groups and commercial fishing interests. The plaintiffs argue that the U.S. Department of the Interior reinstated permits without proper environmental review, violating federal law. The 810 MW project, developed by Equinor, aims to power 500,000 homes by 2027 but has faced repeated delays and opposition. The outcome of this legal battle could significantly impact the future of offshore wind development in the United States.
Ardian Gains Full Control of 56MW Wind Portfolio in Spain
Ardian Infrastructure has acquired full ownership of a 56MW wind portfolio in Spain by purchasing the remaining stake from Exus. The portfolio includes seven wind farms in Castilla y León and Galicia, operating under Spain’s regulated remuneration scheme. The assets, active for over ten years, produce electricity for approximately 43,000 homes. The transaction was carried out through Ardian’s Clean Energy Evergreen Fund. Exus will continue to manage operations. The acquisition supports Ardian’s renewable energy investment strategy across European markets.
OX2 Completes Handover of 70MW Wind Farm in Sweden
OX2 has completed the handover of the 70MW Raskiftet wind farm in Sweden to joint owners KLP and OMERS. The project includes 14 turbines and is located in Ljusdal municipality. OX2 was responsible for development, construction, and delivery. The wind farm is expected to produce electricity equivalent to the consumption of approximately 52,000 households. The handover marks the end of the construction phase. OX2 will remain involved through a technical and commercial management agreement for the operation of the asset.
