OWC and Empire to Support 2GW Scottish Offshore Wind Projects

OWC and Empire Engineering have been selected to provide engineering support for the 1GW Buchan and 1GW Bellrock offshore wind projects in Scotland. The projects are being developed by Flotation Energy and Vargronn under the INTOG leasing round. OWC will lead foundation design and engineering, while Empire will support foundation concept development. Both projects are located off the northeast coast of Scotland and aim to support electrification of oil and gas platforms and export power to the grid. Development activities are ongoing.

Lithuania to Relaunch 700MW Offshore Wind Tender

Lithuania will relaunch its 700MW offshore wind tender after the original process closed without any bids. The project area is located in the Baltic Sea, approximately 30 kilometers from the coast. The Ministry of Energy will revise the tender conditions to attract participation. The revised tender is expected to open in the second half of 2025. The project is part of Lithuania’s national energy strategy to increase renewable energy capacity and reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels.

Ignitis Commissions 314MW Kelme Wind Farm in Lithuania

Ignitis Renewables has commissioned the first stage of the Kelme wind farm in Lithuania, with a total installed capacity of 314MW. Located in the Kelme district, the project includes 14 wind turbines supplied by Nordex, each with a capacity of 6MW. The wind farm is expected to generate electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of over 200,000 households. The Kelme project is part of Ignitis Group’s renewable energy strategy and contributes to Lithuania’s national targets for clean energy development.

Woolfords Wind Farm Approved in Scotland

The Scottish Government has approved the 32MW Woolfords wind farm project, to be developed by Banks Renewables in South Lanarkshire. The project will include up to seven turbines and is expected to produce electricity for approximately 28,000 households annually. It forms part of the company’s renewable energy development strategy in Scotland. The approval follows a review by the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit. The project will also include a community benefit fund and is expected to contribute to national energy targets.
