The German utility E.ON has contracted VBMS, a strategic joint venture between VolkerWessels and Boskalis, to install a pair of subsea power cables.

The cables will transmit power from Eon’s 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm in the UK.

The two 16km wires will link the project substation and connection at the Brookland Pleasure Park in the south of England.

VBMS will install the 150kV AC wires in the third quarter of 2016. The company will simultaneously lay and bury the cables using a new plough, a report said.

The Rampion offshore project features 116 MHI Vestas V112-3.45MW turbines and the Round 3 project is due to be completed in 2018, according to the report.
