By Greentech Lead America: Proximetry, global wireless
network and performance management solutions provider, and EDX Wireless, a
provider in wireless network design and planning tool technology, have
partnered to improve Smart Grid network performance with a solution beginning
at the planning and design stage, and spanning through deployment and
operations.
The partnership between EDX Wireless and Proximetry will
enable more efficient and economical network scaling and management, as well as
improved network reliability and performance.
The unified solution integrates EDX’s design and planning
tools with Proximetry’s AirSync performance management software. The solution
will produce accurate, dynamic inputs that allow tuning of RF propagation
models, active provisioning of valid wireless links to isolated or remote
devices, identification of network bottlenecks, superior discovery of
geographically lost devices, and better optimization of network channel
selections.
Proximetry’s policy-based network
management system, AirSync, captures the real-world RF and network data
that EDX SignalPro processes to design and optimize new and expanded networks
with increased reliability, redundancy and performance.
This joint solution enables utilities to drive down the
cost of their network deployments while simultaneously improving the network’s
reliability and performance.
“Proximetry and EDX Wireless are providing a more
integrated management solution that allows utility wireless network operators
to access and utilize the underlying performance data from their existing
installed networks to better optimize and expand their existing networks or to
better deploy and manage performance in their new networks,” said Tracy
Trent, Proximetry CEO.
The cohesive planning process coupled with
integrated network management capabilities developed between EDX and Proximetry
can configure a smart meter network and distribution automation network.
“Proximetry’s AirSync provides often unavailable but
highly valuable live network data to EDX’s wireless network design and
optimization tools. These results in improved reliability, redundancy and
performance of both existing and future network deployments,” said Mark
Chapman, EDX Wireless CEO.
