The C3 Energy Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) data analytics solutions installed by Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) has received 2015 Smart Grid Project of the Year award from POWERGRID International.

Through this award, BGE was recognized as a trendsetter in leveraging next-generation technology in enterprise smart grid application deployment for any utility.

This award also identifies the complexity and scale of data analytics project and its broader impact on the utility industry.

BGE can more efficiently use smart grid data for business optimization processes by implementing applications provided by C3 Energy platform.

BGE deployed the C3 AMI Operations and C3 Revenue Protection applications across its entire two-million-meter service territory to address energy lost to theft and meter malfunction and to monitor meter health and operations.

The deployment involved unique levels of data integration, developing 42 integrations to 12 source systems and within six months, the applications met all business performance targets.

On the other hand, C3 Revenue Protection succeeded in identifying 8,000 non-technical loss cases with field investigation accuracy rates of 90 percent.

BGE entered into this enterprise-wide project with an aim to address multiple value themes, which will provide quality based service to customers.

In a recent development, BGE launched the 2015 ‘Adventures of Captain Mercaptan, BGE Natural Gas Safety Hero Challenge,’ as a creative method to educate school-aged children on the importance of natural gas safety.

Last month, C3 Energy was selected by AEP for deploying customer analytics software as a broad engagement solution for residential and business customers.

The solution was supposed to be deployed across the full service area of AEP Public Service Company of Oklahoma.

Besides, C3 Energy’s dominant machine learning team has earned a leading position across three categories in the provisional leaderboard for the Global Energy Forecasting Competition.
