TotalEnergies has appointed Emmanuelle Guegan as President of Marketing & Services and a member of its Executive Committee, effective September 1, 2026, as the global energy company refreshes its senior leadership following the retirement of Bernard Pinatel.
Guegan moves into the leadership role after serving as Senior Vice President Corporate Affairs for TotalEnergies’ Exploration & Production business since October 2025. Her appointment brings an executive with extensive experience across Marketing & Services, finance, human resources, communications and Exploration & Production into the company’s top management team.
The leadership transition follows Bernard Pinatel’s decision to retire after a long career with TotalEnergies, including the past 10 years as a member of the Executive Committee. Pinatel held senior responsibilities spanning refining, chemicals and marketing activities.
TotalEnergies Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanné thanked Pinatel for his contribution to the company, highlighting his industrial expertise, team leadership and role in developing its refining, chemicals and marketing businesses. Pouyanné also welcomed Guegan to the Executive Committee.
Emmanuelle Guegan Brings Marketing, Finance and HR Experience
Guegan has built much of her career within businesses that she will now oversee at executive level. She began her career at Total in the French retail network of the Marketing & Services segment, giving her direct operational experience in the company’s customer-facing energy business.
In 2005, she moved to the Financial Division as Head of Cost Control & Reporting for Exploration & Production. She subsequently returned to Marketing & Services and became Head of Finance Control for France in 2008.
Her responsibilities expanded beyond finance when she was appointed Director New Models in 2012, followed by a role in HR Strategy and Performance in 2014.
In 2016, Guegan became Vice President Human Resources for the Africa Division. She was appointed Senior Vice President Human Resources and Communications in 2020, before moving to Exploration & Production as Senior Vice President Corporate Affairs in October 2025.
The breadth of these assignments gives Guegan experience across TotalEnergies’ retail operations, financial management, organizational transformation, human resources, communications and upstream energy activities.
TotalEnergies Executive Committee Has Nine Members
Following the September 1 leadership change, TotalEnergies’ Executive Committee comprises nine senior executives led by Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanné.
The committee includes Aurélien Hamelle, President Strategy & Sustainability; Stéphane Michel, President Gas, Renewables & Power; Emmanuelle Guegan, President Marketing & Services; Catherine Remy, President People & Social Engagement; Jean-Pierre Sbraire, Chief Financial Officer; Namita Shah, President Asia and President OneTech; Vincent Stoquart, President Downstream and President Refining & Chemicals; and Nicolas Terraz, President Exploration & Production.
Guegan’s appointment places her in charge of Marketing & Services at a time when major energy companies are adapting their customer-facing businesses to changes in mobility, energy retail and the broader transition toward lower-carbon energy solutions.
The executive reshuffle also maintains distinct leadership across TotalEnergies’ major operating areas, including Exploration & Production, Gas, Renewables & Power, Refining & Chemicals, Marketing & Services, OneTech, strategy and sustainability. For TotalEnergies, the appointment represents both a leadership succession and the return of an executive with substantial Marketing & Services experience to one of the company’s principal business divisions.
