Entrion Study Advances Fully Restrained Platform for Deep-Water Offshore Wind

Entrion Wind has completed an Enova-supported feasibility study validating the technical and economic potential of its Fully Restrained Platform, or FRP, for offshore wind. The foundation concept targets deeper waters where conventional fixed-bottom monopiles become increasingly difficult and expensive to deploy. Entrion’s approach restrains the foundation laterally using tensioned mooring-type elements, seeking to combine characteristics of fixed and floating foundations while reducing steel requirements and installation complexity. The completed study is an important technology-development milestone as offshore wind developers move toward deeper sites and larger turbines. The company is positioning FRP as a foundation option capable of extending fixed-foundation economics into water depths that increasingly favour floating wind technology.

TotalEnergies Creates Integrated Power Germany to Combine Renewables, Storage and Flexible Generation

TotalEnergies has launched Integrated Power Germany, consolidating its German electricity activities into a single business unit spanning renewable generation, battery storage, flexible power, electricity trading and customer supply. The move follows TotalEnergies’ rapid expansion in Germany’s power market and is designed to manage renewable production and flexible assets as an integrated portfolio rather than separate businesses. Germany is becoming a major market for utility-scale solar, wind and battery storage as electricity demand grows and coal-fired generation is progressively replaced. The new organisation provides TotalEnergies with a platform to optimise generation, storage and power sales together, supporting its strategy of developing an integrated electricity business alongside its existing European renewable-energy portfolio.

LEAG Starts Construction of 1 GW / 4 GWh Battery as Lusatia GigawattFactory Expands

LEAG has started construction of a massive 1 GW/4 GWh battery energy storage system in Germany’s Lusatia mining region while commissioning 230 MW of new wind and solar capacity. The milestones are part of LEAG’s GigawattFactory strategy to transform former lignite-mining areas into renewable-energy and storage hubs. At four hours of storage duration, the battery will be capable of shifting substantial renewable output between periods of surplus generation and peak electricity demand. The combination of new solar, wind and gigawatt-scale storage illustrates LEAG’s transition from conventional generation toward flexible clean-power infrastructure. Construction of the BESS represents the project’s key new physical milestone.
