Greenvolt Sells 57.47 MW Hungarian Solar Farm

Greenvolt Group has agreed to sell its 57.47-MWp Kira solar farm in southern Hungary to PPC Group for EUR 64.2 million. Located around 180 km from Budapest, the project entered commercial operation in July 2024 and benefits from a 25-year feed-in tariff under Hungary’s KÁT programme. The asset is backed by EUR 35.5 million in project financing. PPC also secured an option to acquire a co-located 49.1-MW/196.2-MWh battery energy storage system once it reaches ready-to-build status. The deal follows Greenvolt’s recent inauguration of Hungary’s 99.8-MW/288.6-MWh Buj BESS. For PPC, the acquisition supports its 2026–2030 growth strategy, including EUR 24 billion of investment and expansion across Central and Southeastern Europe.

BP in Talks to Sell Lightsource

BP is in advanced talks to sell its solar business, Lightsource, to a consortium involving Qualitas Energy and Wren House, the infrastructure investment arm of the Kuwait Investment Authority. The potential transaction supports BP’s strategy to simplify operations, reduce debt and refocus investment on oil and gas. BP is pursuing a USD 20 billion divestment programme under CEO Meg O’Neill, with a target to reduce net debt from around USD 23 billion to USD 18 billion by the end of 2027. Lightsource operates around 4 GW of solar, wind and battery capacity across 15 countries. BP acquired the remaining 50.03 percent of Lightsource in 2024 and has since recorded more than USD 4 billion in related write-downs.

Vestas 15 MW Turbine Blade Fails at He Dreiht

Vestas and EnBW are investigating a blade failure involving a 15-MW V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbine at the 960-MW He Dreiht wind farm in the German North Sea. The incident occurred on one of the project’s turbines, prompting an investigation to determine the cause of the failure. He Dreiht is a major offshore wind development using Vestas’ flagship 15-MW turbine platform, with 64 turbines planned across the project. The incident puts attention on identifying the technical cause and assessing any implications for installation and operation of the remaining units. Once fully operational, He Dreiht is expected to make a significant contribution to Germany’s offshore wind capacity and renewable electricity generation.
