Gentari Achieves Mechanical Completion of Maryvale Solar and Battery Project in Australia
Gentari has reached mechanical completion of its Maryvale Solar and Energy Storage Project in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, marking a key milestone toward commercial operations in 2027. Located in the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), the hybrid project combines a 243 MWp solar photovoltaic plant with a 172 MW/409 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), making it one of Australia’s largest DC-coupled solar-plus-storage developments. Once operational, the project will deliver up to 172 MW of dispatchable renewable electricity, enough to power around 82,000 homes, while improving grid stability and supporting the integration of renewable energy. Claire Elkin, Head of Gentari Australia, said the milestone reflects the company’s commitment to delivering reliable, large-scale clean energy infrastructure that accelerates Australia’s energy transition.
Verdant and Aura Power Merge to Create 11 GW UK Renewable Energy Platform
Verdant Energy and Aura Power have merged to establish one of the UK’s largest privately backed renewable independent power producers (IPP), backed by CVC DIF. The combined business will operate under the Aura Power brand and comprise around 1 GW of operating and under-construction solar and battery energy storage (BESS) assets in the UK, alongside a 10 GW development pipeline. The enlarged company will employ more than 75 people and continue selective expansion of Aura Power’s European BESS portfolio. Simon Coulson, Founder and Chief Executive of Aura Power, will lead the merged business while retaining a minority stake. Caine Bouwmeester, Partner and Head of Renewable Energy at CVC DIF, said the merger creates a leading UK solar and battery storage platform with the scale and delivery capability to support Britain’s clean energy transition.
Revera Breaks Ground on 200 MW Scottish Battery Storage Project
Revera Energy, an energy infrastructure platform backed by Carlyle, has officially broken ground on the Windyhill Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Glasgow, Scotland. The project will deliver 200 MW/400 MWh of battery storage capacity and is scheduled to enter commercial operation in the first quarter of 2028. The Windyhill project is the first of Revera’s planned 1 GW/2 GWh battery storage portfolio across Scotland, which also includes the Hunterston and Kincardine BESS projects. Together, the developments represent more than GBP 500 million in investment and are expected to create around 550 construction jobs and 45 long-term operational roles. Daniel Kim, Chief Executive Officer of Revera Energy, said the project will strengthen grid resilience, support renewable energy integration and advance the UK’s Clean Power 2030 objectives.
