Centrus Energy Signs LEU and HALEU Supply Agreement with X-energy
Centrus Energy has signed a definitive agreement with X-energy to supply Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU) and High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) for the deployment of Xe-100 small modular reactors (SMRs) and TRISO-X fuel. Under the agreement, X-energy will provide prepayments to support Centrus’ expansion of domestic uranium enrichment capacity at its American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio. The contract builds on Centrus’ existing USD 3 billion contingent LEU and HALEU backlog, including USD 2.4 billion already definitized, and complements its recent USD 900 million U.S. Department of Energy award. Amir Vexler, President and CEO of Centrus, said the agreement strengthens the U.S. nuclear fuel supply chain, accelerates commercial HALEU production and supports job creation in Ohio and Tennessee.
LS Power to Acquire 606 MW Texas Gas-Fired Power Plant from Constellation
LS Power has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the 606 MW Brazos Valley Energy Center, a natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant located near Houston, Texas, from Constellation Energy. The facility operates within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market, one of the fastest-growing power markets in the United States. The acquisition expands LS Power’s generation portfolio to approximately 14,100 MW across North America, complementing its investments in renewable energy, battery storage and transmission infrastructure. Paul Segal, Chief Executive Officer of LS Power, said the transaction strengthens the company’s ability to meet rising electricity demand driven by population growth and AI-powered data centres. The deal also supports Constellation’s regulatory commitments following its USD 16.4 billion acquisition of Calpine.
Envision Galaxy Campus Targets 2 GW Green AI Capacity, 1 Million Accelerators
Envision Energy has commissioned its Galaxy Campus in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, designed to scale beyond 2 GW of renewable-powered AI capacity. The campus features a 120,000-square-meter supercomputing facility, equivalent to 20 football pitches, targeting 1 million PFLOPS and support for up to 1 million AI accelerators. Envision says the facility can deliver up to 10 times more compute output per square meter than conventional data centers. Galaxy is the first flagship of Mission Gobi, announced in June 2026, which targets 5 GW of green AI computing capacity across desert and arid regions worldwide by 2030.
