JERA Agrees to Buy 70,000 Tonnes of Green Ammonia Annually from AM Green in India

Japanese energy company JERA has signed a binding heads of agreement with AM Green Ammonia for approximately 70,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually over five years. Announced October 27, the agreement covers production at AM Green’s 1 million-tonne-per-year Kakinada facility in Andhra Pradesh, India. The plant is under construction, with commissioning targeted for 2028–2029. Hydrogen production will use renewable electricity, pumped hydro storage and alkaline electrolysis technology. Ammonia will be transported to facilities being developed near JERA’s Hekinan Power Station in Aichi Prefecture. The intended customers include shipping companies planning ammonia-fuelled vessels. The agreement includes provisions for extending the supply period and increasing contracted volumes.

Singapore Airlines Signs Agreement for 4,800 Tonnes of Sustainable Aviation Fuel from Aether Fuels

Singapore Airlines has signed a binding agreement to purchase up to 4,800 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel from Aether Fuels over three years. Announced October 28, the fuel will be produced at Project Beacon, Aether’s planned production facility at the Pulau Bukom refining complex in Singapore. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2028. The project will convert biomethane and industrial waste gases into aviation fuel using Aether’s Aurora technology. Aether is also planning a larger commercial production plant for 2031, targeting capacity at least ten times greater than Project Beacon. Financial terms were not disclosed.

US Department of Energy Selects Ameren for Grid Upgrade Project Using Advanced Conductors and Dynamic Ratings

The United States Department of Energy has selected Ameren Missouri, Ameren Illinois and Pitch Aeronautics for an electricity grid modernisation project. Announced October 28, the initiative will deploy high-performance electrical conductors and weather-based transmission line rating technology to increase electricity transfer capacity on existing infrastructure. The project is part of a wider federal programme providing approximately $1.9 billion for grid improvements across 26 states, potentially benefiting around 100 million Americans. Ameren’s proposed upgrades will support electricity reliability and increased transmission capacity in Missouri and Illinois. Dynamic line ratings can allow grid operators to adjust transmission limits according to actual operating conditions. Individual project funding and deployment schedules were not disclosed.
