Sungrow Delivers 35 MWh Battery Storage Project in Sierra Leone
Sungrow has commissioned the RESPITE Solar-plus-Storage Project in Sierra Leone, delivering 35 MWh of battery energy storage using eight PowerTitan Series energy storage systems. Backed by the World Bank, the project is the country’s first national-scale power generation project connected to the grid in nearly a decade. The battery system supports a fragile grid served by a single 161 kV, 70 MW transmission line and uses black-start and off-grid capabilities to improve system resilience. Once fully operational, the project is expected to increase Sierra Leone’s electricity access rate from 16% to 36%, create nearly 100 local jobs, and provide reliable electricity to households, schools, healthcare facilities and businesses.
Habitat Energy to Optimise 614 MWh Australian Solar-Plus-Storage Portfolio
Habitat Energy has been selected by Octopus Australia to provide trading and optimisation services for two DC-coupled solar-plus-storage projects with a combined 614 MWh of battery capacity. The portfolio includes the Fulham Solar Farm in Victoria, featuring 80 MW of solar and a 64 MW/128 MWh battery, scheduled to begin operations in 2027, and the Blind Creek Solar Farm in New South Wales, comprising 300 MW of solar and a 243 MW/486 MWh battery, targeted for 2028. Together, the projects will generate enough clean electricity to power more than 150,000 Australian homes. Habitat Energy will use its proprietary optimisation platform and digital twin technology to maximise energy market value, improve grid flexibility and support Australia’s clean energy transition.
CATL-Backed CNTE Delivers 38 MW Battery Energy Storage Project in Czech Republic
Contemporary Nebula Technology Energy (CNTE), a CATL-backed energy storage company, has delivered a 38 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) for a utility-scale project in the Czech Republic. The installation marks one of the country’s largest battery storage deployments and is designed to provide grid balancing, frequency regulation and renewable energy integration services. The project features CNTE’s liquid-cooled battery energy storage technology, improving operational efficiency, safety and system reliability. The milestone strengthens CNTE’s growing presence in the European energy storage market while supporting the Czech Republic’s transition to a more flexible and resilient electricity system. The delivery also highlights increasing investment in utility-scale battery storage to accelerate renewable energy adoption across Central Europe.
