Gamesa wins new wind turbine order in India

Gamesa India, wind turbine manufacturer, has won an order for 80 MW from a power producing firm for setting up a wind farm in Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, reported The Hindu.

This is the second major win for the wind turbine manufacturer in India in less than a month.

Gamesa recently signed agreements to supply 220 MW of wind turbines to three power producers in Indian wind energy market.

Under this contract, Gamesa will distribute and install at five wind farms situated across the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka.

The projects under this contract will use 110 of the G97-2.0 MW turbines in total which will be delivered by March 2015.Gamesa will be responsible for long term operation and management of the turbines, adds the report.

The contribution of Gamesa India to the global revenue of parent company has escalated from 22 percent last year to 33 percent in Q1 14, according to company officials.

In 2013-14, Gamesa was the top supplier of wind turbines, with 426 MW of sales against a total of 2,126 MW of wind power capacity throughout the country.
