Waste management provider GFL Environmental acquires Turtle Island Recycling

Green for Life (GFL) Environmental Corp., one of Canada’s
fastest growing full-service waste management companies, announced that it has
acquired Turtle Island Recycling (TIR) Corp., one of Southern Ontario’s largest
recycling and waste management companies.


“Joining the GFL team means we can now offer even
more convenience, more savings, and more service solutions than any other
company in the waste management industry,” said Louis Anagnostakos , CEO
and co-founder, Turtle Island Recycling
.  

The GFL-Turtle Island combination has created
a One-Stop Shop for waste management and recycling services in
Southern Ontario.
GFL has a
processing capacity of more than 2 million tones of soil, solid waste and
recyclables each year. GFL currently operates ten transfer and recycling
stations, one soil remediation facility and three liquid waste storage and
treatment facilities.

GFL recently received
a contract to supply residential waste collection to the City of Toronto’s
District 2 which covers the west end commencing August 2012.
