General Dynamics and FleetMind Solutions to offer fleet management system

Greentech Lead America: General Dynamics Canada has
signed a deal with FleetMind Solutions to offer fleet management system to
waste and recycling companies.

Waste and recycling companies will be able to use General
Dynamics’ GD4010 ruggedized computing smart display along with FleetMind’s
software.

The combined solution is designed to provide drivers and
back-office systems users with information about a truck’s load-weight, route
status, service completion, vehicular telemetry, driver activities and other
information vital to optimizing fleet costs and productivity.

“The GD4010 will provide our waste and recycling
customers with the most robust and toughest onboard computing platform in the
market in a complete package that is both fully integrated and easy to
install,” said Martin Demers, CEO of FleetMind.

General Dynamics said the ruggedized computing displays
are equipped with a touch-screen, multiple video and audio input channels,
streaming and snapshot video capture, multiple vehicle-bus interfaces, 4G and
Wi-Fi communications, VoIP capabilities, shock detection circuitry, multiple I/O
ports, a solid state hard drive and the latest in mobile computing processors.

These enhanced products are developed for ground combat
vehicles operating in harsh military environments. Enhanced product features
reduce the requirement for multiple individual components, while contributing
to an overall savings in size, weight and in-cab real-estate.

“Leveraging our expertise in delivering vehicle computing
solutions to the military, General Dynamics Canada was able to provide this
low-risk, highly durable solution to address FleetMind’s requirements,” said
David Ibbetson, general manager for General Dynamics Canada.

The GD4010 is part of the General Dynamics tactical
computing and display product line for vehicle and handheld applications. The
computing display manages a wide range of inputs from a vehicle’s on-board
systems including cameras, scales, RFID readers, tire pressure and fuel
monitoring as well as other devices.

Rugged enough to withstand the most demanding operating
environments, the 10.4-inch touch screen display is daylight viewable so
operators easily see the displayed information in even the brightest sunlight
and snow-glare conditions. The GD4010 meets the MIL810 standards for shock and
vibration as well as IP65 standards for dust and waterproofing.
