Half of Building Owners Use Smart Building Technologies, says IDC survey

Greentech Lead America: Nearly half of building owners in the U.S use Smart Building technologies, according to a recent survey conducted by IDC Energy Insights.

Among the 291 building owners surveyed, nearly 33 percent stated they would use Smart Building technologies in the next six months or year.

While 57% of the respondents reported that their companies currently have sustainability goals that they will be striving to reach 86% of them use efficiency or energy management as a metric for success in reaching these goals.

Moreover, survey respondents indicated an average spending increase of 18% since 2011 for solutions in the top 3 Smart Building solution categories: HVAC controls, lighting controls, and analytics/data management.
