Greentech Lead America: EnerNex, a provider of research,
engineering and consulting services, for the electric power industry, announced
the appointment of Dr. Aaron Snyder as the director of EnerNex Smart
Grid Labs.
In this role, Dr. Snyder will be responsible for
executing the vision of the lab.
Dr. Snyder, a senior member of the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), has been with EnerNex five years
as a consultant in advanced metering infrastructure requirements analysis,
electricity metering, electricity metering standards (domestic and
international), demand response and power system wide-area stability and
control.
“I welcome the opportunity to lead the Smart Grid Labs
team and am committed to building an even stronger interoperability platform in
the Lab,” Dr. Snyder said. “My goal for Smart Grid Labs is to continually spur
innovation, to not only be effective in our mission, but to meet the evolving
Smart Grid architecture and technologies.”
During his tenure with EnerNex, Dr. Snyder has assisted
utilities with developing and executing electricity metering test plans and
procedures, in particular for the case of suspected failures, and including the
supervision of vendor personnel performing the tests.
Dr. Snyder has researched key technical elements,
authored and reviewed sections of the Smart Grid Interoperability Standards
Roadmap, facilitated domain specific and cross-cutting stakeholder groups, and
delivered workshop results for the Electric Power Research and Institute (EPRI)
and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Before joining EnerNex, Dr. Snyder was the Regulatory
Standards Manager for Itron where he helped determine corporate strategy for
electricity metering and data acquisition products based on established and
pre-release market requirements, on national and international regulations, and
on domestic and international standards.
