TotalEnergies Begins 440MW Solar Project in Philippines
TotalEnergies and Nextnorth have reached financial close and started construction of a 440MWp solar project in Ilagan, Isabela province, Philippines. The project, backed by approximately $300 million in financing from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, ING Bank and Standard Chartered, is scheduled for completion by end-2027. Owned 65 percent by TotalEnergies and 35 percent by Nextnorth, the plant will generate 13.5TWh over 20 years. More than half of the output is secured through long-term offtake agreements with AdventEnergy and PrimeRES, with the remainder sold via the government’s Green Energy Auction Program. The project highlights strong investment, scalable solar innovation, and customer-focused clean energy delivery, supporting energy security, job creation, and long-term sustainability in the Philippines.
CIP Completes Orsted Onshore Acquisition, Launches Perigus Energy
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has completed the acquisition of Orsted’s European onshore platform, rebranding it as Perigus Energy. The new entity operates across Ireland, Germany, the UK and Spain, with 826MW of capacity in operation or under construction. Backed by CIP’s CI V fund, the platform retains existing contracts and partnerships while supporting a multi-gigawatt development pipeline spanning onshore wind, solar and battery storage. The portfolio currently generates electricity equivalent to powering around 600,000 European homes. The transaction reflects strong investment in Europe’s energy transition, combining operational scale with future growth potential. It highlights innovation in integrated renewable platforms, enhancing delivery capability, strengthening energy security, and providing long-term sustainable value for customers and regional power markets.
Ireland Approves Final Phase of INFOMAR Offshore Mapping Programme
Ireland has approved the final phase of the INFOMAR Programme to complete mapping of its offshore territory. Led by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, the programme will survey the remaining 125,000 sq km between 2027 and 2029, bringing the total mapped area to nearly one million sq km — around ten times the country’s landmass. The initiative represents a strategic investment in marine data and infrastructure planning, supporting offshore wind development, subsea networks, and site identification. It also enhances innovation in marine mapping, environmental protection, and maritime safety. The programme will enable more informed, customer-focused energy planning, strengthen Ireland’s offshore renewable capacity, and deliver long-term economic, environmental, and energy security benefits.
