The lighting system includes optically enhanced fixtures that reduces glare, providing athletes with improved ability to focus on their sports. Meanwhile, spectators and fans can enjoy an enhanced, brighter light.

The company can showcase Carolina Hurricanes hockey and NC State men’s basketball games in a cleaner light with reduced energy and maintenance costs, said Dave Olsen, executive vice president, general manager, PNC Arena.

The LED lights bring significant reduction in energy consumption and operating costs, the company claims. In the past year, Musco has equipped many college indoor arenas with LED systems reducing energy consumption by an average of 70 percent.

Improved lighting controls and on/off and dimming features will help the team focus on players with special effects during introduction.

Jeff Rogers, vice president, Developmental Sales, Musco Lighting, commented, “We in partnership with the PNC Arena are providing a sustainable LED solution. The system design offers better light control to put light where it’s needed to create a theater effect on the playing surface and reduce glare for players and spectators.”

Musco provides lighting solutions for sports and large areas. Visitors to PNC Arena can soon enjoy their first in-game experience under the new LED lights, the company said.
