Cree launches LED replacement for Halogen MR16 lamps

Cree has introduced the MR16 Series LED lamp with TrueWhite Technology.

The lamp delivers soft, diffused light of a 50-w halogen MR16 lamp, and is compatible with all sockets globally.

The retail price is around USD 25 for this lamp and it consume up to 83 percent less energy, which is designed to meet the ENERGY STAR qualification.

The Cree LED lamp combines the energy saving benefits of LED with the light distribution and color quality as clients expect, said Lee Mehler, principal architect, president, LMHT Associates/National Restaurant Designers.

While, other MR16 LED lamps on the market were disappointing, the Cree LED lamp performed up to expectations in retrofit projects, added Mehler.

This latest innovation is composed to replace other halogen lamps by delivering an unparalleled combination of energy savings, color quality and compatibility. The Cree lamp is setting a new standard for the category, said Norbert Hiller, executive vice president, lighting, Cree.

Cree MR 16 LED features a design that delivers greater than 580 lumens in combination with a proprietary lens and eliminates the glare associated with halogen lamps using category-leading Color Rendering Index of 92.

Cree MR16 LED lamps are dimmable and available in 15-degree spot, 25-degree flood and 40-degree wide flood beam angles in a 1.97-inch ANSI-compliant form factor, helping them to fit into tracks during replacement.
