By Greentech Lead Team: Clenergen Corporation, a
supplier of biomass feedstock to address the requirement for renewable and sustainable
supplies of electricity, has launched a new programme to provide carbon neutral
power to mining developments while supporting the subsequent reclamation of
mining lands from the cultivation of energy crops selected for remediation.
“The restructuring of the company over the past six
months is now showing positive results and a significant rise in demand for
off-grid electricity from captive end-users such as mining companies, while at
the same time providing solutions to the remediation of the mined lands,” said Mark
Quinn, chief executive officer of Clenergen Corporation.
Clenergen generates electricity from gasification
technology which disintegrates the biomass and releases synthetic gas (syngas),
which produces no carbon emissions and generates high grade potash as a
bi-product.
Clenergen’s high efficiency conversion of biomass and
cost-plus-royalty operating model allowsthe company’s mining partners to
significantly reduce their cost of generation and maintain a sustainable
constant supply of electricity.
Clenergen has developed the
concept of bio remediation through the use of a range of grasses, plants and
trees that can be adapted to the specific climatic and soil conditions of
mined-out lands.
The company acquired an exclusive intellectual property
license for the use of its first polyploidy (fast-growing) species, Marjestica,
for use in India and Sri Lanka. This license provides immediate access to the
technology and knowledge required to advance the process of providing biomass
electricity to mines and the development of unique feedstock that can be utilized
for remediation projects.
“We are now better positioned to execute on our business
model and expand our energy crop footprint throughout the regions in which we
have established a position over the past three years,” added Quinn.
Recently, Clenergen announced a
binding licensing and joint venture agreement with FUTENCO AG after three years
of development of commercial projects in multiple strategic markets.
