Exelon to sell renewable energy to DBSi

By Greentech Lead America: Data Based Systems
International (DBSi), a provider of data center, Cloud computing, Disaster
Recovery, and Managed Services in the Northeast, announced it has
signed an agreement to purchase renewable energy from Exelon Energy, a
competitive U.S. power generator, for its Pennsylvania data centers in the form
of Renewable Energy Certificates.

DBSi will purchase over 7.7 million kWh of Renewable
Energy Certificates from Exelon. The REC avoids
an estimated 5,862 tons of carbon
dioxide emissions, equivalent to the electricity use of 663 average
American homes for one year.

DBSi will continue to research, develop, and implement
ways to meet their electricity demand while at the same time renewing their
commitment to environmental and corporate responsibility.

“For over a decade, DBSi has been integrating the latest
designs and energy efficient equipment throughout our buildings and data
centers – focusing on areas such as electric distribution, cooling
methodologies, recycling, thermal dynamics within each of its buildings, and
comprehensive facility monitoring. By purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates,
we not only expand our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint, but continue
to support and further the development of clean, renewable energy sources,”
said William A. Bachenberg, CEO, DBSi.

Exelon owns approximately 35,000 megawatts of capacity
comprising one of the nation’s cleanest and lowest-cost power generation
fleets. The company’s Constellation business unit provides energy products and
services to approximately 100,000 business and public sector customers and
approximately 1 million residential customers.
