Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements from R.Power, Elgin, Levanta among others.

R.Power to Sell Stakes in 124 MWp Solar and 86 MW Battery Projects

R.Power has agreed to sell 49.9 percent stakes in a portfolio of hybrid renewable energy projects in Poland, comprising 124 MWp of solar photovoltaic capacity and 86 MW of battery energy storage capacity. The transaction will allow R.Power to bring in an investment partner while retaining a 50.1 percent controlling interest in the projects. The portfolio forms part of R.Power’s strategy to combine solar generation with battery storage, improving grid flexibility and supporting more reliable renewable electricity delivery. The transaction strengthens the company’s capital recycling strategy, enabling it to unlock value from its development portfolio while continuing to expand its European renewable energy pipeline. The deal also highlights growing investor interest in integrated solar-plus-storage assets in Poland.

Elgin Acquires 40.5 MWp Agrivoltaic Solar and 20 MW Battery Project in Italy

Elgin Energy has acquired a 40.5 MWp agrivoltaic solar project co-located with a 20 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in Italy, expanding its utility-scale solar and storage portfolio. The acquisition combines renewable electricity generation with agricultural land use, supporting more efficient land utilisation while adding grid flexibility through battery storage. The transaction strengthens Elgin’s position in Italy, where the company is targeting more than 3 GW of projects by 2030. Dermot Kelleher, CEO of Elgin, has highlighted the company’s focus on integrating clean energy generation with sustainable land management and agricultural activity. The deal follows Elgin’s broader expansion in Italian agrivoltaics, including projects in Sicily and Lombardy, and supports Italy’s decarbonisation and renewable-energy ambitions.

Levanta Breaks Ground on 166 MWp Solar and 80 MWh BESS Project in the Philippines

Levanta Renewables, backed by Actis, has broken ground on the Barotac Solar Power and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project in the Visayas, Philippines. The project combines a 166 MWp ground-mounted solar PV plant with an 80 MWh BESS, covering approximately 155 hectares. Developed under the Philippines’ Green Energy Auction Program Round 4 (GEA-4), the project represents an estimated investment of PHP 5 billion and is expected to avoid more than 200,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. Commercial operations are targeted for mid-2027. Pramod Singh, CEO of Levanta Renewables, said the project demonstrates the company’s commitment to accelerating Southeast Asia’s energy transition, while Pankaj Sakhuja, Chief Investment Officer, highlighted the importance of battery storage for grid stability and energy security.
