CIP Commits €270 Million to 350 MW / 1,400 MWh Scottish Battery Project

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has taken final investment decision on the 350 MW/1,400 MWh Kilmarnock South battery energy storage project in South Ayrshire, Scotland, committing more than €270 million through Copenhagen Infrastructure IV. Construction is underway and commercial operation is targeted for Q1 2028. The four-hour lithium-ion facility was developed by Noriker Power, which will continue managing construction. Shell Energy Europe has signed an optimisation agreement providing contracted revenues. Kilmarnock South becomes CIP’s fourth transmission-connected Scottish BESS investment alongside Coalburn 1, Coalburn 2 and Devilla. Together, the four projects represent 1.85 GW of power capacity and 4.4 GWh of storage.

Renalfa and Eurowind Start Operations at 242 MW Solar and 773 MWh Bulgaria Battery Complex

Renalfa IPP and Eurowind Energy have brought the Tenevo hybrid renewable-energy complex in southeastern Bulgaria into commercial operation. The project combines 242 MWp of solar with 311 MW/773 MWh of battery storage and is expected to generate approximately 332 GWh annually. Solarpro Holding served as EPC contractor and project manager. The solar facilities received €50 million from EBRD and €53 million from Raiffeisen Bank International, while another €60 million financing package is expected for the second battery phase. Renalfa and Eurowind plan to add more than 250 MW of wind capacity, taking investment across the complete Tenevo development above €500 million.

Rezolv Energises 192 MW Phase of Romania’s 461 MW VIFOR Wind Farm

Actis- and Mubadala-backed Rezolv Energy has energised the 192 MW first phase of the VIFOR wind farm in Buzău County, Romania, the country’s largest new wind project to reach this milestone in more than a decade. Phase 1 comprises 30 Vestas V162 EnVentus turbines rated at 6.4 MW each, with Vestas also serving as EPC contractor. Financing of up to €291 million came from an eight-lender consortium. Phase 2 has separate facilities of up to €331 million and will take VIFOR to 461 MW in 2027. Six corporate PPAs cover more than 350 GWh annually. At full capacity, VIFOR is expected to supply more than 270,000 homes.

Six Flags Activates 12.37 MW Solar Carport with Battery Storage in California

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation and Solar Optimum have energised a 12.37 MW solar carport system at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. The installation incorporates 22,908 solar modules, approximately 2 MW/4 MWh of battery storage and electric-vehicle charging infrastructure across the amusement park’s parking areas. The project is designed to generate a substantial share of the site’s electricity requirements while using existing parking space rather than undeveloped land. Solar Optimum developed the distributed-energy installation, combining photovoltaic generation, energy storage and EV infrastructure within one commercial project. The commissioning adds another sizeable behind-the-meter solar-plus-storage installation to California’s commercial renewable-energy fleet.
