AMEA Power Signs Agreements for 250 MW/1,000 MWh Battery Storage Project in Uzbekistan

Dubai-based renewable-energy developer AMEA Power has signed investment and battery storage service agreements for the 250 MW/1,000 MWh Aftabi battery project in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara region. The agreements were executed on October 16 during the Energy Sector Investors’ Council meeting in Tashkent and announced October 20. The four-hour standalone battery facility will provide grid balancing, electricity storage and flexibility as Uzbekistan increases solar and wind generation. The agreements involve the country’s electricity purchasing and investment authorities. AMEA Power previously started construction of a separate 150 MW/300 MWh battery project in Uzbekistan during May 2026. The company reports a global development pipeline exceeding 6 GW, including more than 2.6 GW operational or under construction.

Enertrag Achieves Financial Close for 39 MW/117 MWh Les Sablons Battery Project in France

German renewable-energy developer Enertrag has achieved financial close for the 39 MW/117 MWh Les Sablons battery storage project in Vendeuil, northern France. The milestone was announced October 20. The lithium iron phosphate battery installation will provide three hours of electricity storage and operate alongside wind generation in the Hauts-de-France region. Construction is underway, with commercial operation expected in spring 2027. Natural Power provided technical due diligence covering permits, grid connection, engineering and construction contracts, operations agreements and project financial assumptions. Les Sablons is among France’s early three-hour battery projects. Enertrag aims to reach 1 GW of installed renewable-energy and storage capacity in France by 2030, adding at least 100 MW annually.

Bulgaria Starts Construction of 300 MWh Tesla Battery Project Under €350 Million Storage Programme

Bulgaria has started construction of a 300 MWh battery energy storage facility in Tvarditsa, Sliven Province, using Tesla Megapack technology. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 20. The five-hour installation will use 80 Tesla Megapack 2XL units and 20 transformers. Commercial operation is targeted for the second quarter of 2027. The development is the first of three battery projects planned by Bulgarian companies Asarel Trade and Power Profit in cooperation with Tesla. The wider programme represents more than 2.3 GWh of planned storage capacity and investment exceeding €350 million. Additional facilities are proposed in Stara Zagora and Veliko Tarnovo. The batteries will support renewable-energy integration, grid flexibility and electricity balancing.
