FMO Commits €55.5 Million for 50 MWp Kong Solar Project in Côte d’Ivoire

Dutch development bank FMO has agreed to provide up to €55.5 million in long-term financing for the 50 MWp Kong solar photovoltaic project in northern Côte d’Ivoire. Announced October 20, the financing has a 20-year tenor and will cover the project’s long-term funding requirements. The development is being implemented by Kong Solaire, with Africa Via holding 51 percent and InfraCo owning 49 percent. AXIAN Group participates indirectly through Africa Via. Located near Kong, the solar plant is expected to generate approximately 96 GWh annually under a 25-year electricity purchase agreement with CI-ENERGIES. Construction is underway, with commercial operation targeted for 2028. The facility is expected to serve approximately 240,000 people.

Energix Acquires 220 MW Wind, 60 MW Solar and 286 MWh Battery Project in Lithuania for €25.4 Million

Israeli renewable-energy producer Energix Renewable Energies has acquired a ready-to-build hybrid renewable-energy project in Lithuania from Evecon for €25.4 million. The transaction, reported October 20, covers 220 MW of wind generation, 60 MWp of solar capacity and 286 MWh of battery storage in the Marijampolė region. The sale was completed in September following an August agreement. Energix paid €7.7 million at closing, with the remaining consideration linked to technical design and approval milestones. Total construction expenditure is estimated at approximately €400 million. Wind turbine deliveries are expected to begin in July 2027, with commercial operation targeted before the end of 2027. Evecon will continue supporting technical design preparations.

Orsted Completes Construction of 300 MW/600 MWh Iceni Battery Storage Project in the UK

Danish renewable-energy company Ørsted has completed construction of its 300 MW/600 MWh Iceni battery energy storage facility in Norfolk, United Kingdom. Announced October 20, the project is located alongside the onshore converter station for the 2.9 GW Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm. The installation comprises 170 Tesla Megapack units, supported by engineering and construction work involving Hitachi Energy and Knights Brown. Its two battery sections are connected through 18 underground 33 kV cables, each exceeding 600 metres. The system will share electricity connection infrastructure with Hornsea 3, allowing renewable electricity to be stored and dispatched when required. Construction completion marks the transition to commissioning, with operation expected in 2027.
