Today’s renewable energy news includes updates from PowerBank, Dispatch Energises, Grenergy, among others.
PowerBank Advances 30MW Solar and 31MWh Battery Storage Portfolio in the US
PowerBank Corporation has secured safe harbor status for a portfolio comprising 30MW of solar power projects and 31MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the United States. By obtaining safe harbor qualification, the company can preserve eligibility for key federal clean energy tax incentives, improving project economics and supporting long-term renewable energy development. The projects highlight innovation through the integration of solar generation and battery storage, enabling cleaner and more reliable electricity delivery. The battery systems will store excess renewable energy for use during peak demand periods, enhancing grid flexibility and optimizing renewable energy utilization. Customer-focused benefits include improved energy security, lower carbon emissions, greater grid resilience, and more stable access to clean electricity. The portfolio also strengthens PowerBank’s renewable energy pipeline and supports the continued growth of sustainable infrastructure in the US. By combining solar and storage technologies, the company is helping accelerate the transition toward a more resilient, efficient, and low-carbon energy future.
Dispatch Energises 45MW Battery Storage Facility in the Netherlands
Dutch energy storage developer Dispatch has successfully energised its 45MW/90MWh Project Amethyst battery energy storage system (BESS) in Dordrecht, Netherlands, marking a significant milestone in the country’s energy transition. The project spans approximately 6,000 square metres and consists of 144 battery units, making it one of the largest operational battery storage facilities in the Dutch market. The system can store enough electricity to meet the daily energy needs of around 21,500 households and is expected to enter full commercial operation shortly. The project showcases innovation in grid-scale energy storage by enabling the efficient storage and release of renewable electricity, helping balance supply and demand across the power network. Customer-focused benefits include enhanced grid reliability, improved renewable energy integration, greater energy security, and reduced dependence on fossil-fuel-based peak generation. Project Amethyst also supports the Netherlands’ decarbonisation goals by providing flexible infrastructure that can respond rapidly to changing electricity market conditions and growing renewable energy capacity.
Grenergy Unveils 3.5GWh Elena Battery Storage Project in Northern Chile
Grenergy has inaugurated the 3.5GWh Elena Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Chile’s Antofagasta region, marking one of the largest battery storage projects in Latin America. The facility forms part of the company’s flagship Oasis de Atacama renewable energy platform and is integrated with a 446MW solar power plant, enabling round-the-clock clean energy delivery. The project utilizes 6,240 advanced battery units supplied by BYD and is expected to play a key role in stabilizing Chile’s electricity grid while maximizing solar energy utilization. The innovative solar-plus-storage project allows excess daytime solar generation to be stored and supplied during peak demand periods, improving grid flexibility and reducing renewable energy curtailment. Customer-focused benefits include enhanced energy security, greater renewable energy reliability, lower carbon emissions, and more efficient power delivery. Grenergy also plans to expand the Elena project to 7GWh of storage capacity, reinforcing Chile’s position as a renewable energy leader and supporting the country’s long-term decarbonisation and sustainable energy goals.
