The contract with Odell Wind Farm is a joint venture between Algonquin Power and another firm, covering almost hundred V110 2MW machines.

The deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2015.

The facility will be commissioned by the end of 2015, which will also include a deal for 10-year service agreement.

Two months ago, Canadian investor Algonquin agreed a deal to buy the Odell project from developer Geronimo.

Vestas supplied V82 1.65MW turbines to Algonquin for the St Leon project in Manitoba and the Red Lily project in Saskatchewan.

This is yet another successful project with Algonquin, this time using company’s V110 2MW turbine, said, Chris Brown, president of sales and servicing for US and Canada, Vestas.

With this order, company has announced almost 1500MW of orders in the US and Canada for the V110, which has rapidly become its flagship in the North American market, he added.

The Odell wind farm will be sited in Cottonwood, Jackson, Martin and Watonwan Counties and is being built on 23,000 acres of land leased from a land owner group.

It has a 20-year power purchase agreement with a subsidiary of Xcel Energy.
