Pregis has strengthened its sustainability leadership by expanding renewable energy, increasing circular packaging solutions, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and advancing responsible manufacturing, according to its 2025 Sustainability Report.
The company, under the leadership of Kevin Baudhuin, Chairman and CEO, reported significant progress toward its 2K30 sustainability goals and its long-term commitment to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2040 through investments in clean energy, waste reduction, ESG governance, and community initiatives.
A major milestone in 2025 was the continued growth of Pregis’ sustainable packaging portfolio. Circular packaging solutions generated 55 percent of the company’s global revenue, Kris Getty, Chief Sustainability Officer of Pregis, said. These solutions include paper-based packaging, bio-based materials derived from renewable biological resources, and packaging products containing at least 30 percent recycled content, Pregis 2025 Sustainability Report indicated.
Pregis expanded its product portfolio with EasyPack Strata, a paper cushioning solution capable of dispensing paper at speeds of up to 60 inches per second while using 100 percent recycled, FSC-certified paper. The company also increased deployment of its fully recyclable Hexacomb packaging, containing at least 20 percent recycled fiber, to protect photovoltaic solar panels and renewable energy equipment during transportation across Europe.
Renewable electricity remained a key driver of emissions reduction. Pregis achieved an 88 percent reduction in operational greenhouse gas emissions intensity compared with its 2019 baseline, meeting its emissions reduction target for the sixth consecutive year.
The company’s wind power Renewable Energy Credit (REC) program expanded significantly from six facilities in 2024 to 22 manufacturing and warehouse locations across the United States. These facilities now match all electricity consumption with wind-generated renewable energy, offsetting approximately 20 percent of Pregis’ global Scope 2 emissions. The initiative delivers carbon savings equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 2,400 average U.S. households.
Pregis also doubled its Renewable Energy Credit investments during 2025, preventing approximately 11,700 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. In Europe, the company’s paper-converting facility in Born, Netherlands added on-site solar panels and energy-efficient motion-activated LED lighting to further reduce electricity consumption.
Resource efficiency also improved during the year. Pregis achieved a global landfill diversion rate of 92.5 percent across 32 manufacturing and warehouse facilities. Its Anderson, South Carolina facility maintained a 99 percent landfill diversion rate for the second consecutive year.
The newly opened 477,000-square-foot Paper Center of Excellence in Elgin, Illinois was designed as a zero-waste facility powered by 100 percent matched Renewable Energy Credits. The facility is expected to divert approximately 5,000 tons of waste from landfill annually.
Pregis also conserved approximately 1,283,293 trees through increased use of post-consumer recycled fiber in its paper packaging products, reducing demand for virgin raw materials. The company’s Foam Densifier Program further enhanced circular manufacturing by enabling fabrication partners to compress foam scrap before returning it for recycling, reducing transportation requirements and lowering logistics-related emissions.
Reducing Scope 3 emissions across the value chain remained another strategic focus. Pregis continues working toward its 2K30 objective of preventing one million product reships caused by transit damage, helping eliminate unnecessary manufacturing, transportation, packaging waste, and greenhouse gas emissions.
Supporting this effort, Pregis IQ completed 195 custom packaging optimization projects during 2025, representing an 18 percent increase from the previous year. More than 1,200 customers and business partners collaborated with Pregis specialists to improve packaging performance, material efficiency, and circular packaging design.
Pregis also expanded sustainability education and ESG governance. Employees completed 77,172 hours of sustainability and safety training during 2025, averaging 26 hours per employee. The company delivered more than 1,200 hours of sustainability training to partners across 24 companies, representing a 16 percent increase compared with 2024.
Independent verification of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions continued through WAP Sustainability Consulting, strengthening the credibility of the company’s ESG reporting. Pregis Europe earned an EcoVadis Silver Medal, placing it among the top 15 percent of companies assessed globally, while Pregis North America received a Bronze Medal, ranking within the top 35 percent.
Community sustainability programs also expanded during the year. Pregis positively impacted 143,213 lives in 2025, bringing its cumulative community impact to more than 1.4 million lives since 2019.
Working with the Uzima Clean Water Mission, six Pregis employees traveled to Nakuru, Kenya, delivering hygiene education to more than 900 individuals across seven community programs. The initiative also distributed water filtration systems capable of providing clean drinking water for up to 10 years, improving access to safe drinking water and healthier communities.
The 2025 Sustainability Report demonstrates measurable progress across renewable energy adoption, circular packaging innovation, emissions reduction, landfill diversion, responsible material sourcing, ESG transparency, and community development. With 55 percent of revenue generated from sustainable packaging, an 88 percent reduction in operational emissions intensity, a 92.5 percent landfill diversion rate, conservation of more than 1.28 million trees, and continued investments in renewable energy, Pregis is accelerating progress toward its 2K30 sustainability targets and Net Zero emissions goal by 2040.
