Solar project support solutions company SolarEdge Technologies will supply photovoltaic inverters to residential solar photovoltaic company Sunrun.

Under an agreement signed by the companies, SolarEdge will be the preferred supplier of photovoltaic inverters to be integrated with Sunrun’s home solar installations. SolarEdge’s inverters will also be delivered over Sunrun’s distribution business AEE Solar.

The optimized inverters of SolarEdge boast features including SafeDC, integrated rapid shutdown, cellular connectivity and storage readiness.

The technology also enables remote troubleshooting and gives users access to real-time performance data through the SolarEdge cloud-based monitoring platform.

In May, SolarEdge had announced its collaboration with Tesla Motors to provide an inverter solution that was to integrate Tesla Powerwall with the grid.

SolarEdge had more than 1.3 GW of successful deployments behind it when it entered the partnership.

Earlier SolarEdge had expanded its supply arrangement with Vivint Solar, a provider of distributed solar energy systems.

Vivint Solar was to install SolarEdge’s optimized DC inverters with integrated rapid shutdown and revenue-grade metering in its installations nationwide.

The integrated revenue-grade metering was enabled to provide users with access accurate data to collect performance-based financial incentives, without the need for additional components.

Sunrun, too, had been working toward business expansion in recent times. Last month it announced a multi-year partnership with American professional football franchise San Diego Padres.

As part of the partnership, Sunrun was to make its consultants available at Petco Park, the home park of the Padres, during regular season home games to promote rooftop solar installations.

Sunrun designs, installs, finances, insures, monitors and maintains home solar systems.
