Shell recently announced its deal with Anesco to buy four solar plant projects with a total capacity of 100 MW.
Anesco has been working on the locations for the past 18 months, and they are now in the last stages of the planning process. The sites are in Chester, North Wales, South Northamptonshire, and North Lincolnshire. Power purchase agreements will be used to make sure that the renewable energy from these projects gets to customers in the UK (PPA).
The deal strengthens a partnership that has been going on for a long time between the two companies. They worked well together to build a battery energy storage plant at Shell’s Bacton gas gateway site in Norfolk.
In March 2022, Anesco finished building the third in a series of solar power plants for Shell in the Netherlands.
Anesco has 12MWp solar farm in Issuing, 14MWp in Friesland and 30MWp solar farms in Sas Van Gent.

Shell has set a global goal to become an energy company with net zero emissions by the year 2050. The company plans to invest around £25 billion in the energy system of the United Kingdom over the next ten years. Increasing the amount of renewable energy used to make power is a key part of both Shell’s plan and the United Kingdom’s efforts to reach its net-zero goal by 2050.
