Greentech Lead America: S&C Electric Company, a renewable energy integration company, was awarded a $7.9 million USD contract by Green States Energy to construct a 2.5 MW solar photovoltaic farm near Roswell, New Mexico.
S&C will provide procurement and construction services for the entire project.
To qualify for the local utility’s renewable energy incentive program, the project needs to be energized by July 11, 2013—a significant hurdle for making the project a success. S&C was able to bring together a team that could engineer, procure, and construct the solar farm in this time frame.
To meet the project schedule, S&C brought together an experienced team. S&C is working with its strong supplier network to quickly procure equipment needed for the project, and is drawing on its significant experience in renewable energy projects to construct the plant.  Portland, Tennessee based, Shoals Technologies Group, will supply racking and DC Balance of Systems (BOS) components, which include pre-fabricated wire harnesses and DC Combiner Boxes.
For this project, S&C also developed an innovative solution that divides the system into 100-kW sections tied to the owner’s meters. This design allows Green States Energy to better utilize the strong solar potential around Roswell and participate in the local utility’s solar incentive program.
Engineering and construction work is already underway and will be completed by July 2013, the company said.
