With a $94 million in funding from the NY-SUN program for projects awarded through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) Competitive PV program, 14 MW of new solar PV projects will soon come up in New York State.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office has announced this project. This 142 new solar PV project is for a total of 214 MW of new capacity. It is estimated that there will be a 68 percent increase on the 316 MW of PV capacity installed and in the pipeline in New York State by 2013.

The funding was awarded through Competitive PV program based on the competitive solicitation for projects over 200 kW, to develop the market for mid-sized solar projects.

As per the arrangements of the program, the funding will be given to chosen projects at project completion, on a performance basis after that every year. The NY-SUN funding will leverage roughly $375 million in private investment.

In the state, solar incentives are declining gradually. A year ago, in ConEdison’s service territory, the state was providing around $1.00 per watt but now is providing about $0.55 per watt only. Outside of ConEdison territory, it has dropped from around $0.68 per watt to $0.41 per watt.
