L&T targets 200 MW solar project order next fiscal

Greentech Lead India: L&T Construction, a part of
Larsen and Toubro, is targeting 200 MW solar projects order during next fiscal.

The company has already strengthened its position as the
largest EPC player in the country’s solar power sector with orders for over 200
MW. The company’s cumulative solar power project is expected to increase to 400
MW by FY13, according to a report in Economic Times.

The EPC segment constitutes over 80 per cent of the
company’s business.

The company is approaching a target of 112 mw of
installed capacity by April this year.

L&T has already commissioned the biggest project, a
25 MW solar plant at Charankha in Gujarat. The project utilizes tier-1
crystalline PV technology and another 40 mw plant, employing thin film
technology, is under commissioning at Pokhran in Rajasthan. When completed it
will be the one of India’s largest solar power plants.

Of the 66 MW solar projects commissioned in Gujarat,
L&T’s solar EPC business has commissioned India’s largest tracker based
crystalline solar PV power plant. The 10 mw plant located at Surendranagar has
adopted tier-1 crystalline PV modules and single axis trackers.

L&T’s capabilities include solar PV & CSP power
project design, fixed & tracker structure manufacturing, fast and cost
effective solar PV & CSP power plant construction, and ability to bring in
local and foreign financial assistance for developers of utility scale solar
power plants in India.

Recently, L&T Construction has bagged new orders valued over Rs 1306 crore across various business segments.
