Fortinet has established a 900kW solar electric system that covers its Santa Clara corporate campus.

Fortinet has exhibited its sustainable business practices with the installation of this solar energy system which includes two rooftops and three parking lots.

The new facility is comprised of 3148 Canadian Solar modules, located on rooftop and parking-structure locations.

The campus tenant improvements and solar projects were managed by FaciliCorp, a Project Management firm.

This commitment to solar energy is making progress towards Fortinet’s goal of using renewable energy, creating sustainable operations, and establishing in the Bay Area as a trendsetter to encourage other businesses to go green, said, Drew Del Matto, CFO, Fortinet.

Fortinet has contracted with Blue Oak Energy to design and install this campus solar carport and rooftop project.

This carport and solar rooftop project will generate power economically for Fortinet’s campus over the next thirty years, explained, Tobin Booth, CEO, Blue Oak Energy.

Blue Oak Energy has delivered solar electric systems on over 600 distinct locations, across more than 30 states totaling more than 780MW.

This is a great example of the investments being made in solar across the U.S. by technology companies and other commercial businesses, says Julia Hamm, president, CEO, Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA).

Solar remains the fastest growing electric energy source in US due to such commercial solar projects and 6,000 MW of solar capacity is projected to come online in 2014, a 26 percent increase over the growth achieved in 2013.
