Landis+Gyr to offer cloud-based meter data management for 3 utilities

Landis+Gyr will update three utilities with its Gridstream Meter Data Management System (MDMS) software in a cloud-based, software-as-a-service model.

The Beauregard Electric Cooperative, Victory Electric Cooperative Association, and Columbus Light & Water utilities have entered into agreements for Gridstream MDMS to host the advanced metering data with Landis+Gyr recently.

These utilities have a growing installed base of over 57 million licensed endpoints being managed by Gridstream MDMS at utilities worldwide.

Gridstream MDMS is a standards-based system designed to process and compile data for a variety of utility programs and operations.

In addition, the Gridstream MDMS automates the movement of validated meter data between utility systems and advanced metering head-end systems.

Beyond standard integrations, the MDMS offers the ability to add a consumer portal application and outage management analytics.

This single, unified system combines metering, consumption and related data from all read sources in a centralized system of record repository.

The system standardizes data for use according to customer specified rules. Using industry standards, it interconnects field metering systems with a broad range of enterprise applications. Further, its analytic processes prepare data for a wide range of utility operations.

The system helps to deliver anytime, anywhere access to data from a secure, hosted environment with lower initial costs and built-in support for utilities of any size.

A hosted MDMS is useful for utilities planning to extend meter data management beyond the head-end system without the additional IT work.

Standards-based interfaces enable data to be consumed by the Gridstream MDMS from smart meter systems or devices. The MDMS then processes, formats and places the data in the proper context for later use.

Moreover, the system maintains the network connectivity model, enables load mapping and stores non-billing data to provide granular visibility into the smart grid infrastructure.

Besides, the virtual and net metering capability provides the flexibility to create both virtual meters and virtual channels to support accurate billing.

Landis+Gyr currently hosts data and network management software for 235 utility customers.

Last year, Oregon Electric Utility also selected Landis+Gyr for Gridstream MDMS to host the advanced metering data as part of its cloud services offering according to a five-year contract.
