Greentech Lead Europe: Itron, a provider of smart metering solutions, announced
the launch of a new smart gas meter platform in Europe.
Itron’s smart gas meter will help utilities measure and
manage gas through accurate and detailed usage data, as well as reduce business
costs by using capabilities, such as remote asset monitoring, advanced alarms
and remote valve operation. This innovative meter will replace aging
traditional meters in the field with a future-proof product that will support
the needs of gas providers today and into the future.

need as they deploy smart meters.”
Itron’s new smart gas meter is the next generation of the
proven Gallus product line, equipped with a state-of-the-art modular electronic
index. They also feature electronic temperature compensation, data logging,
advanced alarms, a remote service shut-off valve and an advanced user interface
with a digital display that supports easy navigation through the meter’s menu,
simplifying operation and maintenance.
This new product is initially targeted for the UK and
Italy and will be introduced to other European countries in the future.
