Administración Nacional de Energía (ANDE), the national electric utility of Paraguay, has awarded Avantha Group Company CG from India a contract to supply 10 complete ZIV substation automation systems.

Engineering services, training and systems integration fall within the scope of the contract.

World Bank is financing the project scheduled to be completed in six months. In January, World Bank announced a three-year strategic cooperation with Paraguay beginning 2015.

The contract for $1,000 million to $1,100 million had been approved last December. Earlier, the World Bank had plans to contribute only $400 million toward the project.

Recently CG supplied another lot of ZIV protection and meters for the expansion of ANDE’s 220 kV and 66 kV electricity network. Last November it had also signed a contract for the supply of eight single and three-phase transformers totaling 420 MVA with ANDE.

Paraguay is rich in natural resources and is working toward building its clean energy capacity. And such growth offers opportunities for companies such as CG to bag projects in that country.

The CEO and managing director of Avantha Group Company CG, Laurent Demortier, said: “This order reinforces CG’s intent to diversify its customer base in Latin America. And we remain focused on building the energy infrastructure of the region with our products, systems and solutions.”
