BP has announced the appointment of Albert Manifold as the next chair of the company, succeeding Helge Lund.
Albert Manifold will join BP’s board on 1 September 2025 as a non-executive director and chair-elect and will formally take over as chair on 1 October. Helge Lund will step down as chair and director at that time after seven years of leadership during a period of major change for the company.
Albert Manifold previously served as the CEO of CRH plc from January 2014 until December 2024. During his tenure, he was credited with strategically reshaping CRH’s portfolio and driving strong growth, performance, and shareholder value. He is known for his focus on cost efficiency, disciplined capital allocation, and cash flow generation.
He currently holds non-executive director positions at LyondellBasell, a global chemicals firm listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and Mercury Engineering, a privately-owned engineering consultancy. He is also an adviser to the board of CRH and a special adviser at Clayton Dubilier & Rice.

Albert Manifold is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Accountant, holding an MBA and a Master in Business Studies from Dublin City University.
