JERA Nex bp Opens Talks Over Future of 4 GW Oceanbeat Offshore Wind Complex

JERA Nex bp is discussing the future of its 4 GW Oceanbeat offshore wind complex with the German government, highlighting the economic challenges facing some of Europe’s largest offshore developments. At approximately 4 GW, Oceanbeat represents a major potential addition to German North Sea renewable generation, making any changes to its development strategy significant for national offshore wind targets. Discussions come as European offshore developers face higher equipment, financing and construction costs alongside supply-chain constraints. The talks could influence project timing, investment structure or commercial arrangements. Germany requires substantial offshore wind expansion to support industrial electrification and replace fossil generation, so the outcome could have implications extending beyond the project itself to future auction and investment frameworks.

Jupiter Power Secures $1.4 Billion Financing for 1.5 GW US Battery Portfolio

Jupiter Power has secured $1.4 billion in financing for ten utility-scale battery projects across Texas and Michigan totalling 1,500 MW/3,600 MWh. The transaction is one of the largest battery-storage financing packages announced in the US during 2026 and provides capital for a substantial portfolio of grid-scale assets. The projects will provide energy shifting and grid-balancing services as increasing amounts of solar and wind generation enter US electricity markets. The portfolio’s 3.6 GWh storage capacity also demonstrates the rapid movement toward multi-hour battery installations. Jupiter Power develops, owns and operates storage assets and has been expanding particularly aggressively in ERCOT and other electricity markets requiring additional grid flexibility.

Meta Backs Apex Clean Energy’s 144 MW Starling Solar Project in Texas

Meta Platforms has agreed to acquire the environmental attributes from Apex Clean Energy’s 144 MW Starling Solar project in Texas, clearing an important commercial hurdle for construction. Meta will obtain all renewable-energy credits and other environmental attributes associated with the project’s electricity production. The arrangement provides Apex with a large corporate offtaker while helping Meta address electricity consumption associated with its expanding digital and AI infrastructure. Corporate renewable contracts have become an increasingly important financing mechanism for US solar projects, particularly in Texas. Starling adds another significant photovoltaic project to Apex’s development portfolio while demonstrating how hyperscale technology companies are supporting renewable generation through long-term clean-energy procurement.
