EEW Wins Contract for 69 Monopile Foundations at 2 GW Zeevonk Offshore Wind Project
Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners have selected EEW Special Pipe Constructions to manufacture 69 monopile foundations for their Zeevonk offshore wind development in the Netherlands. The contract represents an important procurement milestone for the approximately 2 GW offshore wind project, which combines large-scale wind generation with flexible energy technologies. EEW SPC will manufacture the foundations at its Rostock facility in Germany. Foundation procurement is one of the largest industrial packages in an offshore wind development and moves Zeevonk further from planning toward physical construction. The project is being developed through the Zeevonk joint venture between Vattenfall and CIP and forms part of the Netherlands’ continuing North Sea offshore wind expansion.
Aura Power Starts Commercial Operations at 49.9 MW Grimsby Solar Farm
Aura Power’s 49.9 MW Grimsby Solar Farm has entered commercial operation and begun exporting renewable electricity to the UK grid. Reaching commercial operation is the key final milestone transforming the development from a construction project into an operating generation asset. The project adds almost 50 MW of new solar capacity to Britain’s renewable fleet at a time when the country is accelerating deployment of solar alongside offshore wind and battery storage. Aura Power develops utility-scale renewable-energy projects in the UK and international markets. The Grimsby commissioning also demonstrates continued progress in Britain’s sub-50 MW solar segment, where projects can contribute meaningful new capacity while larger nationally significant photovoltaic developments progress through separate planning processes.
Muirhall Energy Submits 93.6 MW North Logiealmond Wind Farm in Scotland
Muirhall Energy has submitted an application to the Scottish Government for the 93.6 MW North Logiealmond onshore wind farm north-west of Perth. The planning submission represents a substantive development milestone that could add almost 94 MW of new wind generation to Scotland’s renewable-energy fleet if consented and constructed. Muirhall is one of Scotland’s established independent renewable developers and is building a wider portfolio of wind, solar and storage assets. North Logiealmond would contribute toward Scotland’s continuing expansion of onshore wind while supporting UK clean-power objectives. The project now moves into the formal assessment process, covering issues such as environmental impacts, landscape, grid connection and community considerations before a construction decision can be reached.
