Dajin and Haventus Plan Offshore Wind Logistics Hub at Scotland’s Ardersier Port

China’s Dajin Heavy Industry and Haventus have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore development of an offshore-wind logistics hub at Ardersier Port in Scotland. The partnership would combine Dajin’s offshore foundation manufacturing and supply-chain capabilities with Ardersier’s specialist port infrastructure, supporting future UK and European offshore projects. Dajin is expanding beyond fabrication toward an integrated offshore services model incorporating manufacturing, logistics, vessels and port infrastructure. The Scottish agreement follows a similar cooperation framework established with Germany’s Port of Cuxhaven, giving Dajin a potential second major logistics foothold around the North Sea. Ardersier’s redevelopment is strategically positioned to support turbine foundations, staging, assembly and offshore construction as Scotland’s multi-gigawatt offshore wind pipeline moves toward delivery.

Mercury Approves Up to NZ$600 Million Investment in 190 MW Puke Kapo Hau Wind Farm

New Zealand utility Mercury has reached a final investment decision on the Puke Kapo Hau wind farm west of Dunedin. The project is designed with up to 44 turbines and approximately 190–192 MW of capacity, producing about 550 GWh annually — enough for roughly 78,000 average homes. Mercury previously estimated investment at NZ$500 million–NZ$600 million, with construction potentially requiring around three years. The development received fast-track approval in July 2026 and could create around 200 full-time-equivalent jobs at peak construction. Project assessments indicate construction expenditure could inject more than NZ$220 million into New Zealand’s economy. Puke Kapo Hau forms part of Mercury’s strategy to materially expand wind generation through 2035.

TenneT Advances 6 GW Dutch Offshore Grid Connections at Maasvlakte TenneT has completed directional drilling and conduit installation beneath the beach and seabed at Maasvlakte in the Netherlands, progressing grid infrastructure for three major offshore wind connections. The infrastructure will carry export cables associated with IJmuiden Ver Beta, IJmuiden Ver Gamma and Nederwiek 2, representing a combined offshore wind connection capacity of approximately 6 GW. Each underground route is designed to accommodate bundled conduits that will later house high-voltage cables. NKT is expected to begin cable installation from 2027, while grid connections through Maasvlakte are planned from 2029. The work illustrates the enormous transmission investment required alongside offshore wind farms, with Dutch grid planners preparing multi-gigawatt landing infrastructure years before full offshore generation becomes operational.
