Volvo Trucks has handed over two electric trucks to DSV Air & Sea during a ceremony at DSV Singapore. The purchase of these vehicles, a Volvo FL Electric and a Volvo FM Electric, marks a significant step in DSV’s sustainability journey in Singapore.

Gino Marzola, Managing Director of DSV Air & Sea Singapore & Malaysia, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “Launching our electric fleet marks a pivotal moment for DSV in Singapore. It’s not just about adopting new technology; it’s about leading the way toward a greener, more sustainable future.”

Volvo Trucks, a global leader in electromobility, has 4,200 electric trucks operating across 46 countries. DSV, one of the world’s largest logistics companies, is among its largest customers. Earlier this year, DSV ordered 300 electric trucks from Volvo for its European operations.

The Singapore models have been specifically customized to meet local needs. The Volvo FL Electric, designed for urban distribution, features a compact design ideal for navigating city streets, while the larger Volvo FM Electric is suited for long-haul operations with increased payload capacity.

These vehicles will complement DSV’s existing fleet of electric vans and trucks, aligning with the company’s commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050. Volvo’s support includes a 7-year Gold Service Agreement to ensure smooth operations and ongoing driver training, provided by UD Trucks Singapore.

Looking ahead, Volvo Trucks plans to expand its electric range with the launch of a long-range FH Electric model in 2025, capable of traveling up to 600 km on a single charge. This development further underscores the shift towards sustainable logistics solutions globally.
