Greentech Lead America: CarCharging, provider of a
complete turnkey solution for EV charging needs, has installed electric vehicle
charging stations at the County of Santa Clara Civic Center employee parking
lot in San Jose, California. The County has designated 12 parking spaces for EV
charging use by County employees or the public.
The new EV charging stations are located under one of the
new solar canopies at the civic center parking lot site.
“The County of Santa Clara is committed to
initiatives that help protect the environment,” “Offering this
service to the public is one way we can further contribute,” said George
Shirakawa, president, Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.
The EV charging services at the County parking lot are
provided via dual-headed Coulomb units connected to the
ChargePoint network.
CarCharging EV charging stations utilize the standard
SAE J1772 connector widely adopted by nearly all automobile manufacturers. EV
drivers can easily register and create a CarCharging account online, and attach
a small card to their keychain to initiate use and payment at any intelligent
CarCharging station. The CarCharging keychain card also allows drivers to use
charging locations on the ChargePoint Network. CarCharging also accepts direct
payment via credit card.
The ChargePoint mobile application for the iPhone,
Android, and Blackberry phones also provides real-time charging station
location information with turn-by-turn directions.
