HiTHIUM Launches 4 MWh Sodium-Ion BESS with 20,000-Cycle Life
HiTHIUM has unveiled a 4 MWh sodium-ion battery energy storage system designed to move sodium-ion technology toward utility-scale commercial deployment, with mass production and deliveries scheduled for 2027. The Power N4.0MWh uses HiTHIUM’s new 785 Ah sodium-ion cell, supports storage durations from two to eight hours and is designed for a 30-year service life and 20,000 cycles. The system supports 800–1,500V power conversion systems and delivers more than 88 percent 24-hour comprehensive efficiency. HiTHIUM says its new architecture reduces project footprint by 30 percent, operating auxiliary power by 30 percent and standby auxiliary consumption by 50 percent. The company ultimately targets storage costs of RMB 0.1/kWh.
GameChange Energy Completes Tracker Commissioning at 283 MW South Africa Solar Project
GameChange Energy has completed commissioning of its Genius Tracker system at the 283 MWp Mooi Plaats solar project in South Africa’s Northern Cape, marking a major technology and construction milestone for one of the country’s largest single-site photovoltaic plants. Mooi Plaats forms part of the Koruson 2 renewable-energy cluster and was developed and constructed by Envusa Energy, the joint venture between EDF Power Solutions and Anglo American, with CEEC/CGGC serving as EPC contractor. Renewable electricity from the project will support Anglo American mining businesses including Kumba Iron Ore and De Beers, as well as Valterra Platinum. The project illustrates growing deployment of large-scale renewables for industrial and mining decarbonisation.
D3Energy Energises Ohio’s Largest Floating Solar Project at 6 MW
D3Energy has energised a 6 MW floating solar array on the Village of Monroeville reservoir in Ohio, creating the state’s largest floating photovoltaic project and one of the five largest operating FPV systems in the United States. The project uses 9,222 solar modules across three floating islands covering 12 acres of water and feeds electricity directly into Monroeville’s distribution grid. Gardner Capital owns the system and sells its electricity to the village, while Appalachian Renewable Power participated in construction. Monroeville already operates a 4 MW ground-mounted solar plant commissioned in 2017. D3Energy’s three Ohio projects have now brought the state’s operating floating-solar capacity to almost 10 MW.
Piramal Pharma Adds 4.3 MW Solar Plant at UK Manufacturing Site
Piramal Pharma Solutions is installing a 4.3 MWp ground-mounted solar plant at its Morpeth pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the UK under a PPA with Alight UK BTM1. The behind-the-meter project will use approximately 6,200 solar panels across 16 acres and generate about 3,950 MWh annually, covering roughly 22 percent of the facility’s electricity consumption. Operations are scheduled to begin in Q1 2027. Piramal estimates the project will avoid around 20,000 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent over 25 years while supporting its target to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse-gas emissions by 42 percent by FY2030. The installation demonstrates growing industrial adoption of onsite renewable generation.
