Galia Green Power Secures €87 Million for Polish Biomethane Projects
Polish renewable gas developer Galia Green Power has obtained PLN 376 million, equivalent to approximately €87 million or $102 million, from a banking consortium to finance biomethane developments in Poland. The funding provides substantial project capital as Poland looks to expand domestic renewable-gas production using agricultural, food-processing and other organic feedstocks. Biomethane can substitute for fossil natural gas while using existing gas-grid and industrial infrastructure, giving it potential applications in heating, manufacturing and transport. The €87 million financing is significant for Poland’s relatively young commercial biomethane sector and demonstrates growing lender willingness to support renewable gas infrastructure. Galia’s investment programme could also create additional revenue streams for agricultural waste while supporting Poland’s broader efforts to diversify energy supply and reduce emissions from natural-gas consumption.
CenterNode Backs Aquila Energy as $800 Million Platform Targets Solar and Storage EPC
CenterNode has made a strategic investment in U.S. renewable-energy EPC company Aquila Energy, strengthening Aquila’s financial position and bonding capacity for distributed-generation and small utility-scale solar and battery projects. The investment value was not disclosed, but CenterNode has more than $800 million in institutional capital commitments. California-based Aquila focuses on engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning for solar, standalone batteries and related infrastructure. The partners see an opportunity in projects that are too technically complex for smaller contractors but increasingly below the scale targeted by the largest EPC companies. CenterNode’s capital will support expanded engineering, procurement, construction, safety and project-control capabilities. The investment also gives CenterNode exposure to renewable infrastructure through an operating EPC platform rather than solely through ownership of generation assets.
Maine Selects Clearway for 800 MW Wind Farm and Avangrid for 1.2 GW Transmission Line
Maine regulators have selected Clearway Energy Group to develop an 800 MW onshore wind project in northern Maine and Avangrid Networks to build the transmission infrastructure connecting it to the wider grid. Avangrid’s preferred proposal includes a 1,200 MW transmission line terminating at Haynesville and makes extensive use of existing transmission corridors. The Maine Public Utilities Commission estimates the combined generation and transmission programme could create approximately $400 million in net benefits for Maine ratepayers. Contract negotiations will now proceed with the selected developers. The project represents one of the largest planned wind developments in the northeastern United States and addresses both generation and grid capacity simultaneously, reducing the risk that new renewable output becomes stranded because of insufficient transmission infrastructure.
Invenergy Starts 120 MW Quincy Solar Project With $27 Million Local Economic Benefit Invenergy and Grant County Public Utility District have started construction of the 120 MW Quincy Solar Energy Center near Moses Lake, Washington. The project is Invenergy’s first solar development in Washington to enter construction and Grant PUD’s first solar project in Grant County. Commercial operation is expected in late 2027 under a 20-year PPA signed with Grant PUD. Quincy Solar is expected to generate enough electricity for more than 25,000 Washington homes and contribute over $27 million to the local economy through taxes, land costs, lease payments and other spending. Peak construction is expected to employ more than 200 union workers. Grant PUD is targeting 300 MW of solar generation by 2027, making Quincy a major component of its procurement strategy.
