GE Vernova said Powerica has selected GE Vernova’s 2.7 MW -132 wind turbine generators (WTGs) for its 51.3 MW wind energy project in Devbhumi Dwarka, Gujarat. The project, part of the SECI XVI tranche, aims to boost local community benefits while contributing to India’s renewable energy goals.
The WTGs, scheduled for delivery starting in November 2024, were booked in the second quarter of this year. This marks Powerica’s third consecutive project in Gujarat using GE Vernova technology, solidifying its commitment to expanding wind energy capacity.
Bharat Oberoi, Joint Managing Director of Powerica, highlighted that the high-performance WTGs are projected to generate around 160 million units of electricity annually. Powerica currently operates over 280 MW of wind energy across India, with ambitions to scale up to 400 MW by 2025 and 1000 MW by 2030, reflecting its growing role in the country’s renewable energy landscape.
