Puget Sound Energy (PSE), the largest utility in Washington state, has joined forces with Invenergy, a leading sustainable energy solutions provider, to announce a significant milestone in their commitment to clean energy. The two companies have signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Vantage Wind Energy Center in Ellensburg, Washington.
With this agreement, PSE will acquire 90 megawatts (MW) of clean energy annually, starting from 2025. This move brings PSE closer to achieving its clean energy targets by 2030 and aligns with Washington state’s ambitious clean energy policies. The state has set some of the most progressive goals in the nation for transitioning to renewable energy sources.
Under the PPA, PSE will procure enough energy to power over 26,000 homes, making a significant contribution to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability. The Vantage Wind Energy Center, an existing facility located in central Washington state, will supply this clean energy.
Both Invenergy and PSE recognize the importance of providing cost-effective and equitable access to clean energy for Washington communities. This partnership is a step toward ensuring that the benefits of clean energy are distributed inclusively and lays a solid foundation for a carbon-free future. As part of the agreement, Invenergy and PSE will collaborate on tracking and reporting customer benefits associated with the project, supporting PSE’s Clean Energy Implementation Plan (CEIP).
The PSE-Invenergy collaboration exemplifies the shared commitment to accelerating the transition to clean energy and advancing sustainability in Washington state. By harnessing the power of wind energy, PSE and Invenergy are making significant strides toward a more environmentally friendly and resilient energy future.
