IBERDROLA INGENIERÍA and Gamesa have signed a deal with Grupo Terra, the energy project operators, to build the San Marcos wind farm in a turnkey project to cost €62 million.

This wind power facility will have a capacity of 50MW.  IBERDROLA INGENIERÍA will be in charge of engineering, procurement, construction and operation of the wind farm. It will also build an electrical substation and a 40 km power line for uploading energy to the grid.

Gamesa will be in charge of supplying the turbines for this facility. The company will deliver 25 G90 model wind turbines with a unit power of 2 MW each. The owner of the wind farm will be Grupo Terra of Central America.

The San Marcos wind farm will take care of the electricity needs of 100,000 Honduras homes and also create 200 jobs during the construction process. IBERDROLA INGENIERÍA currently operates in 30 countries.

IBERDROLA is entering into the wind power market in Honduras, with the commissioning of a 100 MW wind power farm in Central America last year in consortium with Gamesa.
