Andhra Pradesh recorded a sharp increase in renewable energy capacity additions during 2025-26, adding 3,865.63 MW, nearly four times higher than the 1,085.15 MW installed in 2024-25, according to data presented by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in the Lok Sabha.
The state’s renewable energy expansion had remained relatively modest in earlier years, with additions of 125.42 MW in 2021-22, 148.62 MW in 2022-23, and 59.15 MW in 2023-24, before accelerating significantly over the past two years. The growth reflects improved policy support, faster project approvals, and increased investments in renewable energy infrastructure.
The Union Government also noted that India has already achieved 50 percent of its installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources, five years ahead of its 2030 target, and remains on track to reach 500 GW of installed non-fossil fuel-based electricity capacity by 2030.
Andhra Pradesh has attracted some of India’s largest renewable energy developers as the state accelerates investments in solar, wind, pumped hydro storage, green hydrogen, transmission and integrated clean energy projects.
ReNew Energy has emerged as one of the biggest investors in the state after signing agreements to invest around ₹60,000 crore in renewable energy projects across Andhra Pradesh. The company already operates significant solar and wind assets in the state and plans to expand utility-scale renewable energy generation and storage.
Greenko Group is developing one of the world’s largest integrated renewable energy and energy storage ecosystems in Andhra Pradesh. The company continues to expand its pumped hydro energy storage, solar and wind projects around Kurnool, supported by multi-billion-dollar investments aimed at providing round-the-clock renewable power for industries and green hydrogen production.
Adani Group has significantly expanded its presence in Andhra Pradesh through renewable energy and supporting infrastructure. Most recently, Adani Energy Solutions secured an ₹8,500 crore interstate transmission project that will evacuate power for upcoming green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the state. Adani Green Energy also operates renewable energy assets in Andhra Pradesh and continues to evaluate additional opportunities.
NTPC Green Energy / NTPC Renewable Energy remains one of the state’s largest public-sector renewable developers. The company operates major solar projects, including the 250 MW Ananthapuram Solar PV project, and continues to expand solar generation and green energy infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh as part of its national renewable energy strategy.
ACME Group has an established presence in Andhra Pradesh through utility-scale solar projects and is among the companies evaluating additional investments linked to India’s growing green hydrogen and renewable energy value chain.
Azure Power operates solar assets in Andhra Pradesh and continues to strengthen its utility-scale renewable portfolio, contributing to the state’s growing clean energy capacity.
ENGIE India operates the 250 MW Kadapa Ultra Mega Solar Park, one of Andhra Pradesh’s largest solar projects, and remains an important international renewable energy investor in the state.
